
Bengüsu's research focuses on the geopolitics of advanced AI, scenario planning, and risk thresholds for frontier systems. Her current work covers Arq's AI scenarios programme, dual-use aspects of advanced AI, and EU stakeholder engagement, including the AI Office and Member State policymakers.
Previously, at the Centre for Future Generations, Bengüsu co-authored Advanced AI: Possible Futures, Europe and the geopolitics of AGI, and Can open-weight models ever be safe?. Earlier, she worked as a recruitment analyst at an AI-safety-focused high-performance computing startup, and contributed to the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies' Global Scanning Network. She facilitates AI governance courses for BlueDot Impact and AI Safety Türkiye.
Bengüsu holds an MA in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences from Columbia University and a BSc in Industrial Engineering and Psychology from Sabancı University.
